What are Thumb Drives?

A thumb drive is simply another way to carry your data. Instead of a floppy disk which usually contains 1.44MB, a thumb drive is much larger storage space, faster, cheaper, and smaller external size. For example, a thumb drive which is 2GB (and this is a small one by today's standards) can hold more data than about 1800 floppy disks.

There are different names for thumb drives: jump drives (name brand), flash memory drives, USB flash drives. Each of these are the same. Many different companies make thumb drives. Thumb drives come in different colors and shapes.
