How to take care of your Stained Glass Window For those who we have given stained glass windows or other stained glass items to, here are some instructions for caring for your stained glass.Consider Stained Glass windows as a low-maintenance window! Stained Glass windows do not need to be cleaned on a regular basis. When you do clean it use a soft dry cloth. If it is heavily soiled then clean the window with a soft damp cloth. Do not use any kind of window cleaner on the stained glass window. Most commercial window cleaners are ammonia-based and ammonia produces a negative reaction to lead, which, over time would cause your window to fall apart. Never use an acid-based cleaner - even vinegar - on stained glass windows, especially stained glass that has been painted. How to take care of your Stained Glass Tile For those who have stained glass installed in your home.Only use a non-abrasive window cleaner when needed, otherwise use a soft damp cloth. If the stained glass has been painted then do NOT use an acid-based cleaner or vinegar. We had a great teacher, Mike Hoopengardner, who taught us the art of stained glass.
